Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are essential to our programs and services.  We welcome individuals (ages 16+) to volunteer at the events and activities listed below.  Volunteers are never alone with participants and long-term volunteers will be asked to successfully pass a background check to work with individuals in our programs.

Monthly Dances

We need volunteers to assist with set-up/decorating, registration, dancing  and interacting with attendees, and clean-up.  Monthly dances are held the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:00PM-7:30PM.  We welcome 60-120 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ages 18+) to hit the dance floor and dance, dance, dance!  This activity provides social and recreational entertainment for a diverse group of individuals with disabilities.   Click HERE to sign-up as a volunteer at an upcoming dance.

Job Olympics Volunteers

Job Olympics is a competition developed to promote transition and employability skills for a broad spectrum of high school students in special education. Job Olympics brings together over 500 students from 40 different schools throughout the area. Competitions representing actual job and employment situations are judged by business people from the community and professionals in education. At the awards ceremony, the top schools and competitors will be recognized with ribbons, medals and trophies. Our next event is March 29, 2024!

Yardwork Volunteer

We seek out volunteers who have interest in gardening or yard clean-up to support the landscaping care of homes that serve as residences for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Duties include: mowing, weeding, gardening/planting, trimming shrubs or bushes, and general clean-up of sticks and rocks to create well maintained yards and beautiful community homes for residents.  This would be a great opportunity for corporate volunteers or high school sports teams.

Sponsor an Activity!

We are always looking for local businesses, civic groups, school groups and generous volunteers to sponsor activities (monthly dances, social group outings, job tours, and fundraisers).
